What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a therapy based on the principle that there are small and specific areas called reflex points on the hands, ears and feet that correspond to specific muscle groups and organs of the body. The nerve endings in these extremities provide a map of the body, for example, the toes are where the head and brain are located as you can see in the visual.

A Reflexologist vs a Massage Therapist

As a reflexologist, I can send intentional messages to the nervous system through skilled touch to the feet when you are stressed, injured or overworked. As a result, reflexology encourages "internal relation" to your body systems - something that no other modality can do. While a massage therapist works with and massages the structure muscles of the body, a reflexologist works with the systems of the body. When working the pressure points the body's waste crystals are broken from the nerve endings, relaxation occurs, toxins are ridden, circulation is increased and nerve blockages are diminished to internal body functions. It's an amazing experience!

Emotional intent

On an emotional level, certain organs or areas of the body hold different emotions, such as the liver will hold anger and resentment. Working these reflex points not only sends signals to the corresponding area of the body to balance and work properly but it also can release emotions we are unintentionally holding. It's important to release these negative emotions as they are said to be the cause of some of our physical ailments. STRESS can wreak havoc on the body.

Foot Zone Therapy

 Reflexology vs Foot Zone Therapy

A Foot Zone therapy session consists of a specific sequence of 120-reflex points worked in the foot. While reflexology, as a general term, can be used to treat a certain ailment such as digestive issues. The practitioner would work only the digestive points to relieve constipation. The Foot zone works the entire body and its systems to bring everything back to balance.

Benefits and Expectations

The most common benefit you can expect is a profound release of tension. The intention is to engage the parasympathetic nervous system in order to allow the body to go into a deep relaxation state. Improved sleep & circulation, as well as detoxification of bacteria and toxins both physical and emotional, occur during the foot zone. It is also a great way to support the immune system by stimulating lymphatic drainage.

Balance for your entire body.
